White-naped crane chicks grow up fast. They hatch with down feathers and open eyes, and can leave the nest within a few hours. Within a few weeks of hatching, the chicks are waist-high!
Mandrill baby Gertrude was born September 21, 2009 to mother Valerie. These endangered primates hail from Gabon, Congo, and Cameroon. Together with their troops, they roam the forest floor to collect fallen fruit and other foods.
The eastern spotted skunk is faster and more agile than larger skunks, and a strong tree climber. It is also more social than other skunks.
